    Training in a different country

    I am in Helsinki this week running four workshops straight after running The NSMC Level 4 Award Course in Cookham. Running the courses back to back really highlight how much you have to adapt your style and content to your audience. In Finland, I am using more visuals and slowing down the speed of my delivery (it is hard enough to learn about social marketing in English let alone in a second language - so I have massive respect for the course attendees.)

    We have just arrived back following delivering a two week intensive social marketing training course in Amman, Jordan.  The course is part of a six months programme we are running for USAID which is helping six organisations to use social marketing /behaviour change techniques to combat serious environmental issues affecting the Kingdom.  Over 97% of energy needs are imported into the country while water shortages are a way of life for everyone living in Jordan.  At the end of the six months training we hope to launch six major programmes which will be targeting ene

    Steve Menzies and I  are just back from our first visit to Jordan on our ECODIT/USAID contract which aims to develop a 6 month's social marketing training programme for NGO's working in the water, energy and solid waste sectors.  The purpose of the visit was to orientate ourselves to the needs of the NGO sector in Jordan and talk to the people we will be training in September.  The NSMC prides itself on making sure all of our training courses are tailor made to the needs of our clients.  We just don't have "off the shelf" training products t

  • Today's print version of the Metro contains an article with the headline "Pregnant? It doesn't mean you have to stop drinking."  Given the care my wife took not to drink when she was pregnant this headline caught my attention. 

  • New work for NSMC in Jordan

    The NSMC has just been awarded a major contract to develop and deliver a social marketing capacity building programme in Jordan with ECODIT.  The NSMC will be helping to implement the Jordan Public Action for Water, Energy and Environment Project under a contract with the United States Agency for International Development (PAP).  The project is a public education and behaviour change communication programme that will lead to increased efficiency in the use of water and energy in Jordan.

    Following our last successful Social Marketing Academy in London in March we have been inundated with requests for the dates of the next academy.  We are therefore happy to announce that the next NSMC Academy will take place on 27-28 September at the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM) headquarters at Moor Hall in Berkshire.  The accredited CIM course will take place over two days and successful participants will be presented with a social marketing award.  If you are interested in attending you can find Read more...

  • NSMC Launches Health Equity Facebook Page

    The NSMC is working with The Department of Health (England) and The Institute of Health Equity (UCL) to identify and showcase ways in which social marketing can be used to address the social determinants of health inequalities (SDH).
