ISM-Open Conference 2012 'Taking Responsibility'

Wednesday 9 May 2012

The theme of this one day conference, hosted by ISM-Open, reflects current calls from government and policy makers for communities and organisations to take responsibility for responding to global social and economic challenges. The event builds on our previous ISM-Open conference ‘Changing Times: New Challenges’.

What role can social marketing and socially responsible management play in moving towards a more sustainable and socially equitable economy? The conference aims to bring together academic, practitioner and public policy researchers from these key areas of management research to present and discuss current research relevant to these issues.

Keynote speakers:

  • Dr Agnes Nairn, EM-Lyon Business School
  • Professor Gerard Hastings, Professor of Social Marketing
  • Dr Frank den Hond, Associate Professor in Organization Sciences, Amsterdam Free University.

Value for Money training day

23 May 2012

The NSMC is running a one-day training session on value for money in behaviour change on 23 May 2012.

Since no organisation can afford behavioural interventions that are not cost-effective, The NSMC has developed tools for assessing value for money. Developed with the Department of Health, NICE and leading health economists, the downloadable Excel tools can be tailored by local teams to fit their own challenges. The tools are designed to calculate the value for money of smoking, breastfeeding, alcohol, bowel cancer and obesity interventions.

The course will cover:

  • What is meant by Value for Money
  • Methods and calculations behind the tools
  • Tailoring the tools to local population data
  • Understanding your results

The training is for practitioners working on health issues from local authorities, NHS and other public sector bodies, NGOs, academics and agencies.
